WATER WOES ON THE RISE
Earth may be the only planet in the universe that has water. At least the he kind of water we have - oceans, rivers, streams, lakes, an atmosphere of water vapor condensing into clouds, and ice covering massive areas of our planet. Ours is truly the water planet. We have all viewed it from space via famous "blue marble" images from spacecraft. The problem is that, before our eyes we are in the process of polluting our planet's water supplies and we may be in the process of discovering that water pollution is forever.
Over 70 percent of the Earth's surface is covered by water. Most of it, about 96%, is in our planet's oceans. The rest is lakes and rivers, icecaps and glaciers. Water also exists ... MORE
EXTREME POLITICS BEDEVILS SCIENTISTS AND POLICYMAKERS
The environmental community has long been accustomed to working on long-term problems. We project decades into the future and investigate centuries back in history. Some global issues and impacts are under discussion by thousands of scientists from virtually every nation on this planet. The scientific consensus is strong, productive and professional. The scientific method is still the backbone of science and fuels the free and open interchange of data and ideas. It is responsible, in large part, for the implementation of effective global partnerships that are our best hope for survival in a rapidly degrading ecosphere.
Unfortunately, environmental advocates have recently been disappointed by many of the things that our new president and his minions have done in response to global environmental problems. Two recent actions illustrate ...MORE

He also has facts and figures to contend with. The fact is, the years and years of hard work by renewable energy advocates, entrepreneurs, government and citizens is paying off handsomely and MORE ...
Climate change deniers often buttress their basic argument against climate change science by claiming that an increase in atmospheric CO2 will make Earth greener. Their reasoning revolves around the fact that plants "breathe" in CO2 and "breathe" out oxygen. In addition, the deniers theorize that more plants will remove more CO2, and pollution. This will, according to this hypothesis, reduce the effects of the existing amound, and projected growth, in these gases. In this view, the more greenhouse gases we release into the atmosphere the better. ... MORE ...-->
